About Me
“Your soul knows the geography of your destiny. Your soul alone has the map of your future, therefore you can trust this indirect, oblique side of yourself. If you do, it will take you where you need to go, but more important it will teach you a kindness of rhythm in your journey.”
I believe that we are already whole. The work of therapy is to reconnect with that wholeness and find ways of expressing this in the world. This is a purpose-led life. Being a therapist is one way that I live my purpose.
The process began for me about a decade ago, after a personal crisis threw my life into question. I began a journey of homecoming that continues to unfold. I had the good fortune to encounter some good therapists what helped me to realize the parts of myself that I had been working so hard to eliminate, or numb out, were the very elements of my gift.
Through this experience, I discovered ecopsychology and traditional earth-based approaches to healing and wholeness. I re-engaged my relationship with nature, which for many years had become simply a backdrop for a busy and successful professional life in high-technology marketing.
Reconnecting with the magic, beauty, and abundance of the natural world helped me to connect with the magic, beauty and abundance of an inner essence that I had buried deeply within me. It gave me a container for my grief and fear, as well as my joy. I learned to trust the earth and as a result, myself.
Today I weave nature and the natural world into my work with clients, both in the office and outside.
Before becoming a psychotherapist, I spent 15 years in public relations for technology companies in San Francisco. I bring to my work a personal understanding of the pressures of seeking balance in an urban environment within a high-pressure career. As a mother and stepmother, I have a deep compassion for the unique challenges and joys of parenting and partnering in a blended family.
I have an M.A. in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and advanced training in Ecopsychology and Ecotherapy through the Holos Institute. Currently, I facilitate the ecotherapy and gardening program at BaysideMarin in San Rafael, as well as lead nature-based groups in various locations throughout the Bay Area.
When not working, I enjoy gardening, being in wild nature, spending time with my family, and experimenting with traditional cooking methods and herbal medicines.
