Ecopsychology
& Ecotheraphy

Ecopsychology places human life within the context of its relationship with the larger systems that support life. Mental and emotional suffering is understood as a symptom of an imbalance in this relationship. Ecopsychology and ecotherapy practices seek to restore this ancient balance.

We are nature. Under the layers of our busy lives, under our worries and fears, under the the limiting stories that our culture tells us and that we tell ourselves, we know this. Our bodies and our bones are made of the same stuff as the stars. We are inextricably woven into the vast web of life.

We long to root down and bear fruitful lives that will nourish ourselves and others. Yet we live in a culture that is deeply disconnected from the natural processes of our world. This disconnection produces anxiety and isolation, and a desolate feeling of not-enoughness.

Reconnecting with outer nature reconnects us to inner wholeness. It weaves us back into an ancient and powerful relationship: supporting and being supported by the intelligence of life. This relationship has the potential to heal and transform, bringing us into greater balance inside ourselves and in relationship with the world in which we live.

I thread the natural world throughout my work, both in the office and outside. I offer individual or couples sessions in nature, as well as ecotherapy groups and guided therapeutic hikes to help facilitate this reconnection and the healing process.

These sessions are determined between myself and the client and are developed to best suit the needs of that individual or group at that time. The time frame for these sessions is anywhere from one hour to a half-day or whole day.
